The tourism sector operates at 4 levels – (i) Central Govt. and State Govt. level (ii) commercial sector (iii) institutional
sector – hotels (iV) service sector – interpreters , tourist guides, sales and publicity in the Govt. – Dept. of Tourism
formulates policy, selects and develops tourist destinations, promotes International tourists, plans travel facilities etc.
Tourist information offices are scattered through out the country. In commercial sector it involves- providing transport
services by air, railways, road and water ways to the tourists. A travel agency also has departments as tours, travel, accounts
and cargo. The agency takes responsibility for planning, booking, advising travelers from all categories. Opportunities in
tourism exist at all levels and in all sectors. If one has personal knowledge and experience of travel to major tourists
destinations, hotels, places of interest, one would make a good travel agent. People in travel business, must possess social
etiquettes, business tact and positive approach.
