There had been a lot of confusion and anticipation about the methods of assessment when CBSE announced last year that it would abolish 10th exams. The complex assessment system was expected by all. Since, no student is allowed to fail in the previously brutal class X exams, CBSE was doing its best to come up with the criteria for Summative assessment-II for 2010.

The students will need to go through a comprehensive test conducted by the schools. The schools will get questions from the board. The new CCE (Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation) system has two formative assessments are already complete. The summative assessment will be conducted in March, 2010. Question papers will be sent to schools in Feb last. It would be a pen-paper based system and questions will be according to the earlier guidelines of CBSE.
