On March 27, Delhi observed Earth Hour which means switching off all lights for one hour or more. This school also took part in this noble initiative which began in Australia three years ago.The school switched off all its lights from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on that day and held a candle-light dinner for day-boarding students. The students also gave away handouts to the people living in neighbourhood. The residents expressed their willingness to join the noble initiative to show their concern for the environment.Students of primary wing played “Antakshari’ in candle light. This year, many countries celebrated Earth Hour, and students were the main force to spread awareness in countries like South Korea, Nepal and Thailand.The students of classes IV to V played kho-kho. The school principal Dr. Shakuntala S Jaiman lauded students’ efforts and expressed thanks to the Department of Environment, NCT of Delhi and World Wild Life Fund for Nature for their close co-operation to sensitise students about nature and how to cut their carbon footprints. Eco-club of the school co-ordinated this event.
