Reading is the master key which opens several doors. Usually, you need to take part in campus interviews from seventh semester if you want to join a company just after last or 8th semester. Since, Indian economy is rising, more and more companies visit campuses to get their employees. But during recession (2008-2009) only a few companies went to any campus. Your institute’s placement cell needs to be aggressive and keep in touch with old and new companies and invite them now and then. The reputation of an institute/college also matters, during all these activities; do not ignore your semester exams. So you have to plan from 3rd year itself and give equal importance to everything you decide to do. You also need to train yourself for group discussion and interviews. Here communication powers, style body language, stress management qualities and general awareness matter more than the knowledge you have accumulate from reading text books and solving puzzles.
