The final of the HDFC Standard Life Spell Bee India Spells 2010 Competition took place on March 7, 2010. The competition was in partnership with The Times of India. The winners of the shortlisted cities (Mumbai, Lucknow, Chennai & Pune) competed for top honour in the final round, which was telecasted on National Geographic Channel at 8 pm that day.The four finalists were Vignesh (VIII) of Sri Sankaran Sr. Secondary School, Chennai, Aditya Agarwal (IX) of Jaipuria School, Lucknow, Anand Sundaram (IX) of Thakur Public School, Mumbai and Neel Kelkar of Millennium School, Pune.The final was thickly fought, and Anand Sundaram of Thankur Public School was adjudged as the national winner. He received a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh from HDFC Standard Life along with a bat with the signature of Dhoni on it. He and one of his parents will be given an all expense-paid ticket to Washington DC to make presence at the Scripps National Spelling Bee, to be held in May, this year.
