loreto convent, delhi cantt celebrates 400th jubilee year
The students took part in many enthralling activities including song and dance shows to celebrate 400th Jubilee year of the school’s founder Mary Ward. The Chief guest for the Final day was Sheila Dikshit, CM of Delhi. Her presence was quite inspiring. The programmers were loaded with messages like clean Yamuna, protect environment and spread peace. The musical “Blue Heaven; entertained the audience as well as inspired them to conserve water which is the life of mankind. Around 1100 students (III to XII) took part in the valedictory function which took place at Air Force Auditorium. The list of high profile guests included Arvind Sharma (MP), Sr Antonette Rodrigues (Provincial superior), Sumita Narain (Dir, centre of science and environment) and Wilfred Kenelly (high commissioner, Malta). The students smiled when Sr. Antoinette declared two scholarships of Rs, 1 lakh each for two outstanding students of each class from V to XII for getting the highest aggregate marks. Delhi CM announced another scholarship, established by principal A Davies. Mary Ward Scholarship is of Rs. 3 lakh and will be given to the students from the poor families. The students ‘dance shows included Jai Ho’ Dance of the Devil and River Dance. A new trophy “Green Warrior Trophy; was announced for the students of the junior wing.
