The right to education (RTE) is creating a massive buzz in the field of elementary education. The bill came into effect on April 1. Now, the problem is with the private schools. The bill dictates that all schools which are not recognised must apply for the same in 3 months or face shut-down. But since, most of the gully schools do not have necessary infrastructure and facilities, they can’t be recognised. And if they are closed, Where the kids would go.Another problem is reservation. Since, each private school needs to keep 25% seats for poor kids it would compromise its fee-collection. These schools then will have to increase fees of the 75% rich students. The government is expected to come out with several measures to help these schools to balance their economy. Recently, Delhi High Court has also ordered all private schools to provide free uniforms and books to the poor kids. All these orders put the private schools at tension.
