sc orders delhi govt. to fill up vacant teaching staff
Although, the nation promises fundamental rights to education to all Indian kids, Delhi government has been idling until now when it has been awaken by the Supreme Court. The Apex court asked it to fill up all the teachers’ posts lying vacant for years.Thousands of posts of teachers, principals and vice-principals had remained vacant since 2007-all thanks to the inertia of the Directorate of Education. The court is in no mood to accept any excuse or explanation. It only wants action now. It has directed the chief secretary of the Delhi government to carry out an enquiry and tell the court why Delhi government failed to follow court order despite repeated communications. The reasons include an absolute lack of focus and enthusiasm at the office of the Directorate of Education. Perhaps now, it will act.
