Many students from Qatar came to St. Stephen College Delhi to speak and participate in Doha debate. They talked about education models of their country and human rights and freedom of speech. Hesa Al Misnad who studies at Qatar Academy praised Indian Society which is so open to accept differences. These students also compared cultural, social and economical realities with those of Qatar. They also revealed that Qatar is not as brutal to women as other gulf nations. There are opportunities for them to excel in many fields.Another theme of the debate was “Muslims in India are not getting a fair deals.” Panellists like MJ Akbar and Farid talked bout not-so-well conditions of Indian Muslims. They are not found on higher posts and education level is awful. Farid said that countries like India and Qatar need to implement Human Rights like west does. The debate was very enlightening to all and they shared a great rapport and appreciated each other’s point of views.
