teacher of royal public school was arrested for inflicting injuries upon a 10-year old student
Despite the ban of corporal punishment, some teachers and principals still behave like Victorian age beaters and lose patience while dealing with students. On November 12, 2010, a middle-aged teacher of Royal Public school was arrested for inflicting injuries upon a 10-year old student who lives in Meer Vihar. The teacher was booked under section-23 (Juvenile Justice Act). The case is one month old. The first complaint was filed on October 10. Many cases go unnoticed as complaints are not filed at police stations. Each school needs to hold workshop for its teachers to teach them the psychology of children. Every child is not a phenomenal learner. It is important to understand the weaknesses of a child and handle him/her carefully. Beating makes him aggressive and he may become either a low-self esteem boy or harbor a feeling of revenge against teachers and the society. The punishment should be work-based.
