The history of the Convent of Jesus and Mary School, New Delhi goes back the British time in the year 1919 when His Majesty, King George-V proclaimed Delhi as the Imperial Capital.
Like the proverbial mustard seed, the CJM School began as a co-educational school in a rented cottage on Alipore Road, Old Delhi. However, in 1923, it was decided to move it to Maria Bhavan, a cottage that stood on the grounds of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, New Delhi. This day school began to grow rapidly and as expected, it was decided shortly later to construct a proper school building. This made way for the existing building whose foundation stone was laid in 1926.
The progress and development of the school was always marked by a harmonious blend of both traditions, the East and the West.
The school takes responsibility to educate children of the Catholic community and others who desire it, offering them all-round training in character development. A program of Value-based Education is offered to all the students while Catholic students are given Catechetic in addition.
